Maybe it’s time to talk to someone.

There are so many reasons that may have brought you here. Perhaps you need to heal from trauma, build your self-esteem, become a better communicator, or manage symptoms of anxiety, depression, and loss. Perhaps you’re ready to dive in a little deeper to learn how to truly feel and regulate your emotions, develop self-compassion, or explore your spirituality. No matter your reasons, talking about it with a skilled therapist can help alleviate difficult feelings or help to figure out which path is best for you on your healing journey. Book an appointment and we’ll figure it out together.

Why Therapy Works

There is value to having another person bear witness to our sadness, suffering or horror. When someone is willing to go with us  to the root of our pain, it helps us be able to sit with ourselves.  Having to communicate our story to another encourages us to articulate an experience that may only be a series of images, bodily sensations, and emotions. Having to make our experiences comprehensible to another person allows us to grasp them in a clearer and more empowering way. Telling the story also provides us with the opportunity to see the reaction of the other, which helps us grasp the emotional meaning of our experiences. Telling the story to others provides us with a new memory of the story that now includes a witness, making it a public experience. Once we have an articulated story, we have the ability to edit it – something that doesn’t exist when an experience is composed of images and emotions existing out of time.
